Make Money Blogging With Leverage

How are you using your blog to pull in profits right now?

Chances are you're doing what 90% of the marketers
out there do and simply have a blog where you post
great content and then periodically promote
affiliate products or CPA offers.

After all, that's the commonly 'prescribed' method
of making money by blogging. While that does work,
to a degree, there are more advanced methods that
could be way more effective.

One of these is: Leverage.
Even if you have no introduction whatsoever to
leverage, you'll find that you can use your blog as part
of a plan that uses it to perfection.

In fact, the only thing you need (apart from your blog,
of course!) is an eBook product of your own.
Without your own product you'll find that you can
carry out this plan in different ways - but it won't be
as effective.

So let's say you have an eBook. Were you to just go
about marketing the 'normal' way via your blog,
you'd probably dedicate a post or two to it, and
maybe even set up a sales page.

However, you're not going to do that. Instead, you're
going to take that eBook and extract a chapter that you
feel is particularly interesting, and make it into a 10 page
report or so.

Now you have two products: An eBook and a report.
From that report, you can then create blog posts that
talk about various topics that are covered in the report
itself.

Try to aim for around 5 or so. Each of these blog posts
should be aimed at eventually leading the reader to the
report itself, which you're going to be giving away for
FREE when your readers sign up to your list.

Basically, this means that when people read your blog
posts, they'll have the option of finding out more by
simply signing up to your list and downloading the
report for free.

In the report, there should also be an option to find
out even more by purchasing your eBook!
See how you're now using a linear plan for marketing?

Truth be told, you could branch things out even further,
and create various other blog posts from your eBook
itself to promote both the report and eBook.

By not promoting the eBook directly though, you're
going to be simply 'providing value' to your readers,
and it is far less likely to come off as simply trying to
palm products off onto them.

At the same time, you'll be building your list and
starting to be able to market more and more products
as and when you come up with them.

Using this strategy, you should be able to pull in far
more profits from your blog simply by maximizing the
effectiveness of your marketing.

That in itself will set you apart from the minnows of
the marketing world, and let you swim with the big fish!

There are basically two types of bloggers in the world - reporters and experts - and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it's hard for reporters to become experts, but it's easy for experts to report).

If you have ever taken an Internet marketing course or attended a seminar specifically for beginners, you have probably heard about the two different methodologies. Whenever the business model is based on content, and if you blog for money then the model is based on content, people are taught to either start as reporters, or if possible step up as experts.

I'll be frank; you want to be the expert.

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven't established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it's easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc� experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something - experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There's nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it's a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts - there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don't Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a "guru" (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry - the Internet marketing industry - not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it's next to impossible to succeed.

Even people, who enjoy marginal success, say for example growing an email list of 1,000 people, then go out and launch a product about how to grow an email list of 1,000 people. Now I have no problems with that, I think it's fine to teach beginners and leverage whatever achievements you have, the problem is that people gravitate to the same niche - Internet marketing - and rarely have any key points of differentiation.

How many products out there do you know of that all claim to teach the same things - email marketing, SEO, pay per click, affiliate marketing, and all the sub-niches that fall under the category of Internet marketing. It's a saturated market, yet when you see your teachers and other gurus making money teaching others how to make money (and let's face it - making money as a subject is one of the most compelling) - your natural inclination is to follow in their footsteps.

If the key is to become an expert and you haven't spent the last 5-10 years making money online, I suggest you look for another niche to establish expertise in.

Report on Your Process, Not Others

The secret to progress from reporter to expert is not to focus on other experts and instead report on your own journey. When you are learning how to do something and implementing things day by day, or studying other people's work, you need to take your process and what you do as a result of what you learn, and use it as content for your blog.

It's okay to talk about experts when you learn something from them, but always relate it to what you are doing. If you learn a technique from an expert it's fine to state you learned it from them (and affiliate link to their product too!) but you should then take that technique, apply it to what you are doing and then report back YOUR results, not there's. Frame things using your opinion - your stories - and don't regurgitate what the expert said. The key is differentiation and personality, not replication.

Expertise comes from doing things most people don't do and then talking about it. If you do this often enough you wake up one day as an expert, possibly without even realizing how it happened, simply because you were so good at reporting what you did.

You Are Already An Expert

Most people fail to become experts (or perceived as experts) because they don't leverage what they already know. Every person who lives a life learns things as they go, takes action every day and knows something about something. The reason why they never become an expert is because they choose not to (which is fine for some, not everyone wants to be an expert), but if your goal is to blog your way to expertise and leave the world of reporting behind you have to start teaching and doing so by leveraging real experience.

Experience can come from what you do today and what you have done previously; you just need to take enough steps to demonstrate what you already know and what you are presently learning along your journey. I know so many people in my life, who are experts simply by virtue of the life they have lived, yet they are so insecure about what they know, they never commit their knowledge to words for fear of�well fear.

Blogs and the Web in general, are amazing resources when you leverage them as a communication tool to spread your expertise because of the sheer scope of people they can reach. If all you ever do is talk to people in person and share your experience using limited communication mediums, you haven't much hope of becoming an expert. Take what you know and show other people through blogging, and you might be surprised how people change their perception of you in time.

Reporting Is A Stepping Stone

If your previous experience and expertise is from an area you want to leave behind or you are starting from �scratch�, then reporting is the path you must walk, at least for the short term.

Reporting is a lot of fun. Interviewing experts, talking about what other people are doing and just being part of a community is not a bad way to blog. In many cases people make a career of reporting (journalism is about just that), but if you truly want success and exponential results, at some point you will have to stand up and proclaim yourself as someone unusually good at something and then proceed to demonstrate it over and over again.

Have patience and focus on what you do to learn and then translate that experience into lessons for others, and remember, it's okay to be a big fish in a small pond, that's all most experts really are.

To make money online many people jump right in before
they are properly prepared. You know that to be a rocket
scientist, a doctor, a brick layer, a construction worker, an
office worker, a teacher, there are prerequisites.

Things you must learn, before you can be successful. You don't
just jump right in unprepared.

The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even
though there are unsavory people out there who'd have you
believe it's a "Walk in the Park" and requires no more than
the belief that you can just do it.

And I'll have to admit, it is a walk in the park compared to
what you have to put up with in the working world punching a
clock. Being a subordinate to someone who does not have your
interests in mind. But there are still rules you have to follow
and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing
work for you.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others
who will make more in one month than most people make in a
whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question,
"what comes first, the chicken or the egg"? Personally I vote
for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back
to the same old conclusion - I have no clue and I don't think
many of us do either.

But one thing I do have a clue about and know for sure is that
to make money online you must first have Passion for the
company products and/or service of any Internet business
from which you expect to make money.

Passion in this sense simply means that you've researched
and like the company and products or services. It is then
that you translate that like (or Passion) into the education,
excitement and work that usually accompany Passion.

I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good
at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell
anything. But I'm concerned about those of you who are not so
knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.

Now, I'm not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is
the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must
also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising,
company support, effective keywords, and etc. Those things are
often learned from the company you join - but sidestep Passion
and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company
and the products and services provided by that company, again,
you won't attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or
time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion
to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that
you won't stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines
to search about the Internet Marketing industry for
business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like
and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great
principles, and easy to understand with great products
and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion.
If you don't find it move on, You can find the right opportunity
containing the attributes identified above.

Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation
plan is excellent so I guess I'll start that business - does not
sound like a decision based on anything near Passion.

And remember when you hear that an Internet "guru" does that,
don't be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced
and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about
the company products and services.

Note: By the way it's your goal to get to the point where you
can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a
worthy one indeed.

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you
step into Internet Marketing but if you don't first find the right
company products and services to be passionate about, all of
those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead
of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services
that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.

I want to talk to you about how you make products
make you a living so that you don't have to "work"
for a living.

First, let me remind you of something in case you don't know.

I've been at this "Game" longer than just about anybody
still active and producing in our market.

Back BEFORE the Big Seminar, BEFORE Yanik's seminars,
BEFORE about anyone's seminars, Jonathan Mizel,
Declan Dunn and yours truly put on the shindig known
as the "Boulder Seminar."

For 4 years, we put on the seminar everyone who was
anyone attended to get the real inside scoop on
Internet marketing.

I've spoken around the world at over 120 seminars.

I've successfully produced and sold DOZENS of
info products. Yet, NONE of those things matters that
much. What DOES matter is this: In the last 7 years,
I haven't "worked" much.

I read, hang out at bookstores and coffee shops.
And check in with my staff daily, of course.

Now, for 7 years, I did NOT have an office outside
of my home. I had a few virtual assistants (mostly that
was Lisa). Today, I have a small office with 2-3 employees,
depending on the month.

My point is THIS:

My products make me my living, so I don't have to
invest a great deal of personal work and effort. I've
been doing it LONGER than anybody and, frankly,
have created the best step-by-step system for teaching it.

The process is simple:

1. Find a group of people with money to spend and the
willingness to spend it on a passion, hobby or compelling
personal interest

2. Come up with 12 product ideas

3. Do your 12-product survey

4. Find experts to provide content on that topic

5. Create your info product

6. Set up your download page

7. Set up your order taking

That's basically my system. Nearly everyone SKIPS
the 12-product survey.

Big mistake! In the Info Product Dashboard, I show
you actual survey results, just so you can SEE with your
own eyes how much of a difference doing a 12-product
survey makes.

See, if you choose the product to sell that gets the
FEWEST votes on a 12-product survey, you're dead in
the water before you begin.

Now, the next issue people have problems with is
coming up with the 12 product ideas. What most people do
WRONG here is they create product ideas LIKE what is
already selling.

That's dumb.

I show you how to use Marketing Warfare strategy
to do what's called a "flanking" move. My whole business
is built on FLANKING product ideas.

I talked much more in depth about that last year in
"The Red Factor." So if you have that, you're ahead of the
learning curve.

Most people have NO IDEA or clue how to select winning
product ideas.

So if you HAVE produced a product in the past that did

a. You didn't use Marketing Warfare strategy

b. You didn't do your 12-product survey

Now, in terms of finding experts, if you already have
content, you don't need experts. But if you don't have
expertise on the topic, you need to find and interview
experts and spin this into an attractive info product.

I give you the email template to send out and a resource
that together have a 30% success rate for one of my
friends. Oh, he pays ZERO for those interviews. And has
$10,000 a month coming in from doing them.

The logistics of creating and delivering the info product
and setting up the download page STOPS a lot of people.
That is why I've had professional graphics created for you.
The graphics alone would cost you more to get done than
the cost of the Info Product Dashboard.

For the advanced people, I show you to use Amember
to set up a back end membership site system. And I show
you to do an OTO using Amember.

To my knowledge, until this product, no one had EVER
published how to do that or figured it out.
